Shorewood

Acquanetta L. Polley, 81, of Shorewood, IL, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024. Acquanetta, or as she was affectionately known to both family and friends, “Tudy”, was born on January 15, 1943, in Cairo, IL the 4th child of ten to Jack Griffin II and Geneva Griffin. Acquanetta Griffin attended Sumner High in Cairo, IL and graduated from Joliet Township High (Central) in 1961. Acquanetta married her beloved husband, Daniel Polley and shared 59 years of marriage. She was blessed with two loving children, Diantha and Daniel Jr.

Tudy Polley had a strong work ethic and was employed at the Green Valley Grocery, U.S. Steel, and retired from Commonwealth Edison. Her journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family and a quiet strength that touched the lives of those who knew her. Growing up in Cairo, Tudy had an unwavering bond to her siblings who supported and protected each other through good times and bad. They shared a deep connection based on years of shared experiences and no matter what, their love remained steadfast.

Tudy was selfless, had a heart of gold, and her capacity for love was immeasurable. Tudy had an infectious laugh and was always the life of the party. Her love of dance, music, bowling (with the Happy Hookers bowling team), softball, going to events, playing games, the casino, fine foods, keeping her hair and nails done, and spending time with friends and family (especially her grandchildren) were her passions.

Tudy had a spark about her, a fierce sense of determination and a fiery spirit that would guide her through life. Tudy will be remembered for her kindness, warmth and honesty and her ability to pull people in, offering comfort with her words and wisdom through her actions. She always had an open door. She was an ear when you needed advice and the person who showed us all to be kind and to enjoy life.
