 Alan “AJ” Plese

1991 – 2024

AJ Plese of Charlotte, NC, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the age of 33. Those who knew AJ knew that he was larger than life, both in size and in personality. He was born May 6, 1991 to John and Lori (nee Duchene) Plese. He grew up in Channahon, IL and his talent for athletics was apparent at a young age. Excelling at football and baseball, he helped take home a state championship in baseball for JCA and wore his #81 football jersey proudly. After high school, he graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a degree in Kinesiology. He was later accepted into Palmer Chiropractic School, allowing him the ability to follow his dream of helping patients with chronic pain. In 2016, he moved to North Carolina to practice full time as a Doctor of Chiropractic where he owned several successful businesses, including Circadian Rejuvenation.

 While in North Carolina, he met his wife, Jillian (nee Derenzy) Plese. Together they had a daughter, Raegan Plese. Raegan was the love of his life; she allowed a usually serious AJ to show off his silly Dad side. It was truly a joy to witness them together.

AJ pursued several passions with laser focus: Body Building, meal planning, luxury cars, motorcycles, and boating.

He is survived by his parents, John and Lori (nee Duchene) Plese, sister, Kristin (Alex) Parrish, and niece, Helena Parrish; his paternal grandparents Red and Dorothy (nee Bajt) Plese, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Peggy (nee Stevens) and Roy Duchene Sr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 9am – 11am at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Joliet, IL. Inurnment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for Raegan’s 529 college savings plan. Please make checks payable to Bright Directions. Cash also accepted with 100% of all donations going directly to Raegan’s Education Fund. Contributions are deeply appreciated.

 Closing thoughts: Everyone is fighting an invisible battle; be kind to each other.
