Barbara Ellen Hassig
(Hudson) age 93. Passed away May 9, 2022 at Lightways Hospice Home.
Fourth child of the late Orvis Lexie “Bill” Hudson and Bertha Alice (Ray) Hudson of Anderson, IN. Barbara was raised in Anderson, IN, graduated from Anderson High School. Worked at American Cleaners until she married and moved to Joliet in 1952. She and her loved husband Clarence G. Hassig Jr. “Mickey” have two children. Gary C. Hassig “Fly” and Lois R. Norman. She also has two grandchildren Ricky Norman and Ashley Norman and one great granddaughter Alexis A. Addams “Lexi”.
Barbara worked for many years at Kline’s Department store, with her husband, children and many teenage friends. Barbara and her husband were members of the Joliet Midwest REACT C.B. Radio Club and worked many walk-a-thons and coffee breaks at the Rest Area in Minooka, also the E.A.A. Air Shows in the late 1970’s and 80’s.
Barbara was a life member of Columbia (Ivy) Rebecca Lodge in Anderson and a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Joliet and the Trinity United Methodist Church in Joliet. Long time under the care of Lightways Hospice and thanks to her nurses Bonnie, Margie and Laura for their loving care over several years. Chaplin of Hospice was good to her.
She was the last of seven siblings all deceased, Howard (in infancy), Orvis Jr. “Bill” (Donna), James (L. Belle), Sam (Illie), Wayne and Shirley Ann.
Several nieces and nephews survive.
Visitation Thursday May 12, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home, Friday at 2:00 p.m. and proceed to Woodlawn Memorial Park for graveside services.
