Claudius J. Beguin Jr.

Claudius J Beguin, Jr. age 95 passed away peacefully on Saturday August 26, 2023 at Bridle Brook Assisted Living and Memory Care Community in Mahomet, IL. Survived by his children David (Donna) Beguin, Claudia Beguin, Douglas (Sandra) Beguin, Dwight (Julie) Beguin, Mark Beguin, Amy (Ian) Dillon, and Jason (Besa) Beguin; his 14 grandchildren Ryan, Sean, Brittany, Allison, Benjamin, Daniel, Michael, Jeffrey, Michal Joy, Joshua, Hailey, Brooke and Theron and nine great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by numerous, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years Mary Jane, precious granddaughter Nicole, his parents Claudius J Beguin, Sr and Daisy as well as siblings Birdie Warrick, Theron Beguin, Fern Beguin, Norma Gebhardt, Mabel Miller, Ruth Morrison, and Elizabeth McDonald.

Born near Ottawa, IL, Claude lived most of his life in Shorewood after marrying the love of his life Mary Jane in March of 1949.  Together they raised their 7 children and were foster parents to over 30 children. Claude earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration. He worked for Argonne National Laboratory for 30 years and after his retirement went on to teach business classes at Joliet Junior College.  His faith in God was the cornerstone of his life, and he served the church faithfully for many years. He stayed actively involved in working with young people through AWANA clubs and coaching youth sports. Always an avid fisherman, he also enjoyed watching old westerns, playing card games and Yahtzee, cheering on the Cubs, and spending time with his family.  He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.  Family and friends are invited to attend the wake and funeral to be held at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home 1500 Black Rd., Joliet IL 60435 on Saturday September 2 with visitation from 11-1 and funeral services immediately following.  Interment will be held at a later date.
