Doris Mae Vocu (Nee Moody)

Born on February 1, 1935, called home to be with her Lord on October 1, 2021.

Survived by her adoring husband of 66 years, James Vocu, Sr. and all 5 of her beloved children:  James Vocu, Jr. (Kathy), Cheryl Bales (Doug), Dennis Vocu (Brenda), John Vocu (Debbie) and Donna Struthers (Bill). She will be forever missed by her 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her faithful Westie was by her side to the very end.

In her extended family, she was preceded in death by her mother Francis Moody, her brother Edward Etheridge (Ruth) and a much loved niece. She is also survived by three cherished nieces and one dear nephew.

Doris loved to makes things beautiful, as evidenced in the flowers in her garden and every room in her home. She was an avid collector of dolls, bunnies and garden ornaments, all of which she proudly displayed. She loved to shower her family and friends with gifts, especially for Christmas and birthdays. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family and spending long hours on the phone with her friends. She was also an active member of Christian Women’s Club for many years. Along with her husband Jim, she was a prayer warrior for her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 3:00 PM until the time of services at 6:00 PM at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home with her son Pastor John Vocu officiating.  Private interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
