Francis D. Szabo

Age 80, passed away Sunday April 7, 2024 at Advent Health Hospital, Bolingbrook.

Survived by his three children Cynthia Szabo, Lori (Tim) Theobald and Christopher Szabo; three grandchildren Joshua Szabo, Tyler and Emilee Theobald; three sisters Rose Korwin, Carol Hoffman and Kathy Szabo.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his wife Linda (Jones) Szabo; parents Francis and Florence (Mitok) Szabo; in-laws George and Dorothy Jones.

Born in Joliet, Francis was a lifelong resident.   He graduated from Joliet Township High School and Joliet Junior College.   Retired from ITW.   Francis was a member and past president of the Joliet Grade School Band Parents Association and he coached baseball for many years.   Francis was an avid bowler and Chicago Cubs fan.

Visitation will be held on Monday April 15, 2024 from 9-11 a.m. with a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home.   Inurnment Elmhurst Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Joliet Miracle League, P.O. Box 3617, Joliet, IL 60434.
