Helen J. Bittle

April 25, 1938 — November 7, 2024

Joliet

Helen June (Minor) Bittle, age 86, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her residence on November 7, 2024, with her children by her side. Born on April 25, 1938, in Joliet, Helen was the daughter to the late Alva and Eva (Pulaski) Minor and the eldest of fourteen children. She attended Joliet Central High School and later went on to receive her GED. She worked multiple jobs to support her six children and retired from Certified Warehouse Foods in 2017.

Helen is survived by sons, Brian Bittle, Curt Bittle and Alan Bittle; daughters, Kimberly Mitok, Kelly (David) Decker and Stacey (Trent) Perry; grandchildren, Crystal, Stephanie, Tiffany, Ryan, Christopher, Lacy, TreAnna, Jessica, Trenton and Tanaja; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; siblings, Norma, Dorothy, Linda, Janice, Roger, Melvin, Terry, and Debra.

She is preceded in death by her grandson Alec Bittle; siblings, Karl, Alva, Dennis, Larry and Robert.

Helen was a devout Baptist and enjoyed teaching others about religion. Most of her free time was spent in her flower garden, surrounded by nature. She loved to bake dessert for her family and friends.

Helen was happiest when she was in Oregon, polka dancing, or helping the neighborhood kids. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her silly (and sassy) attitude.

Helen's celebration of life will be held at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd., Joliet, IL on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 3:00-7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers donations to the family would be appreciated.
