Joan S. Yakich Nee: Brooks Age 77, passed away Tuesday August 31, 2010 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Survived by one son David (Gail) Yakich; one daughter Jacqueline (Jim Johnson) Ward; grandchildren Scott (Laura) Ward, Shannon (Jason Willis) Ward and Christopher (Jennifer) Ward; great grandchildren Tyler, Zachary and Cameron Willis and Tristan Ward; one sister Shelby Jean Peterson; brothers-in-law John, Raymond (Shirley), Richard (Gloria), James (Margaret) Yakich and Mick Mikuska; one sisters-in-law Carol (Stanley) Demsky and Lois Yakich. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her loving husband Bernard Yakich; parents Edward J. and Martha w. (Wysocki) Brooks; brothers-in-law Gordon Peterson and Edward Yakich; three sisters-in-law Francis Yakich, Dorothy Gura and Helen Mikuska. Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. Member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Employed by Special Interest Answering Service. Joan enjoyed traveling and camping. Joan was previously employed at the Caterpillar Tractor Co, J.C Penneys and owned Baskin Robbins Ice Store for 23 years and Bernie'?s Barbeque Ribs. She graduated from Holy Cross School and Providence High School. Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Monday September 6, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. to Holy Cross Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 2-6 p.m. In Lieu of flowers memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.
