Joseph A. Kipilla Age 88 Tuesday February 22 2011 from cancer at his home with his family.Survived by three children Janet Lynn (nee Scheffler) (Peter) Ragusa Ellen Louise (Martin) Pavelek and Joseph Thomas Kipilla all of Joliet. Grandfather of Amanda Marie Ragusa Step-grandfather of Christine (Greg) Offerman and Kimberly (Dwayne) Killian. Sister Mary Sevec of Payson AZ. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Ellen (Breen) (1995) his parents Mary (Konacko) (1966) and Michael (1950) two brothers John (1982) and Michael (2004).Joe was born in Joliet on July 23 1922 and was a lifelong resident. Joe served in the Army during World War II (1943-1946) in the Pacific Arena and was awarded several medals including the Bronze Battle Star. He retired with the closing of U.S. Steel in April 1980 after 38 years of service. Following his retirement he worked for a few years with the Joliet Grade School District 86 as a food delivery man. He was a member of the Joliet Moose Lodge 300 for 41 years. Joe loved his family his home garden and animals. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and enjoyed many sports including football golf and bowling. Family would like to thank his neighbors who always helped and watched out for him.Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home Saturday February 26 2011 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
