Joseph M. Zagar

Age 79, passed away suddenly Friday, March 25, 2022 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy (Carnegie) Zagar; two sons Robert (Stacy) Zagar and David Zagar; grandchildren Kerstin Zagar, Andrew Zagar and Samantha Marsh; brothers Marty (Rosa), Dan (Sharon), John (Judy), Mike and Tim (Barb) Zagar; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and George Garland.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Dorothy (Knowles) Zagar; one brother Kenneth Zagar.

Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident.  Joseph retired from Com Ed after 38 years of service.  Member of IBEW Local 1460, subsequently Local 15 steward, chief steward and business representative until his retirement in 1998.  He coached youth sports for many years and was an avid golfer.   Member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.

Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Tuesday March 29, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.   Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.   Visitation Monday 3-7 p.m.   Memorials to the Parkinson's Foundation Midwest, 200 SE 1st St. Ste 800, Miami, FL 33131 or Parkinson.org/Reach/Midwest would be appreciated.
