Kathleen Marie Johnson

Kathleen Marie Johnson, 46, of Shorewood, IL passed away on July 10, 2024 after a battle with cancer. Kathleen was born on November 19, 1977 to Helen & Larry Johnson. 

 After Kathleen graduated from Romeoville High School in 1995, she studied a variety of subjects including psychology and human resources. She held a degree in human resources management from Lewis University in Romeoville and had a well rounded career in several industries ranging from loss prevention, insurance, to human resources. Kathleen was a music lover, cherishing legends like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. She treasured watching her father play drums for hours on end with a smile that could brighten any room. She was also an avid Prince fan and member of the purple people group. Kathleen was happiest spending time with her family on the beach admiring sunsets over the ocean and she never missed an opportunity to capture the moment with a selfie! Despite the many mental and physical health challenges she faced, Kathleen always found great joy in the spirit of Christmas and giving to others. 

 Kathleen was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Helen & Anthony Beck and her paternal grandparents, Ann & Frank Johnson. She is survived by mother, Helen, father, Larry, and brother, Bobby. 

 Visiting hours will be held at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 9am with services beginning at 11am. She has requested folks wear beach attire or bright colors in her honor. In lieu of flowers, Kathleen asked donations be made to one of the following organizations: National Alliance on Mental Illness www.nami.org or CancerCare www.cancercare.org
