Maria was born and raised in Abilene Texas, and after Highschool moved to Joliet.  She retired from the Joliet Public School District after 27 years of faithful and dedicated services to the students of Hufford Junior High School.

Maria was a faithful servant of God by attending Saint Mary’s Nativity Church.

In her youth, Maria looked forward to the weekends by dusting off her dancing shoes and spending a night out on the town with her girlfriends.  With the desire of being a world class singer, she would spend countless hours singing along to Vicente Fernandez in front of the mirror with the classic “hair brush” microphone and a heavenly voice that would put a smile on everyone’s face who was blessed to hear her. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like spending time working in the front yard and the occasional night of bingo, but most of all she loved being a part of her children’s life and being actively engaged in the upbringing of her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren alike.

Visitation for Maria will begin Monday Aug 30 2021 at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home from 4 PM until 8 PM.   Funeral Services, Tuesday 12 pm at the Funeral Home.  Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
