Mary Jane Meyer DeMattieBorn April 5 1944 passed away Saturday September 25 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home after a cour Ageous 4 year battle with cancer with her loving family by her side.Mary is survived by her husband John Robert ?Bob? Meyer and her daughter Terri (Michael) Reyes grandchildren Rachel and Rebecca Reyes a sister Margaret (Ed) Brown an aunt Venita (Cabit) Marek. Numerous nieces nephews and cousins also survive.Proceeded in death by her parents Emil (1983) and Marian (nee Marek) (2006) DeMattie.Mary Jane graduated from Sacred Heart Grade school class of 1958. She then attended and graduated from St Francis Academy class of 1962. She loved the outdoors bicycling walking and running. She won numerous first place awards in running. Mary and her husband bicycled 5 different bike trips of 350 miles each from Joliet to New Glarus WI. as well as many other biking events. She was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. She was a prior member of the Joliet Bike Club as well as a longtime member of St. Jude Parish. Joliet and current member of St. Joseph Church Rockdale. Mary Jane was actively involved in her grandchildrens activities and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 2 2010 at 10 a.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home 1500 Black Road. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation Friday October 1 2010 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
