Pauline Scarcelli (new Lowry), age 96, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully at Lightways Hospice House on May 5, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Pauline was born and raised in Dekalb, IL before moving to Joliet, IL to raise her family. She is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Frank Scarcelli, Jr., her parents George Lowry and Vica Flota, and 6 siblings. Pauline is survived by her children Terry (Bonnie) Ziakis, Laurie (Frank) Papesh, Sue (Terry) Tolios, and Cindy (Allan) Beckman, her 14 grandchildren Matt (Heather) Ziakis, Brandy (Jim) Robbins, Erik Papesh, Liz Papesh, Dustin (Kristin) Pirc, Jacqueline (Nick) Collopy, Kathleen Tolios, Ben (Stephanie) Studer, and Kaitlyn (Destyn) Studer, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many loved ones.
Many knew her as the clerk from the Day-N-Nite convenience store where she worked for 20+ years, after retiring from Jewel. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, playing backgammon and rummy, spending time with her family, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks. She will forever be remembered for her generosity, her contagious laugh, smile, sarcasm, and devotion to her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations be made to Lightways Hospice House, in Pauline’s name, for their compassionate, loving, and professional care, which her family will be forever grateful for.
Funeral services for Pauline will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
