Ricardo Regalado

Ricardo Regalado, 92 years of age passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, with his wife at his side.

 Ricardo was born May 25, 1928 in La Palmita, Nuevo León, México.  He was the seventh of thirteen children born to Loreto Regalado and Julia Salinas.  Ricardo is survived by his wife of 64 years, Tayde (Martínez) Regalado, his three children Romel (Patty Regalado), Loren (José) Mora, Julie Regalado, his grandchildren Daniel, Richard and Elizabeth Regalado, Karina (Michael) Metts, Melissa (Kody) Lathus and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, four brothers, and a son-in-law.

 In 1952 Ricardo was drafted by the U.S. Army and served two years in Korea during the Korean War.  He was extremely proud of his overseas service and was decorated with five medals including a bronze star.

 Ricardo enjoyed watching baseball, reading newspapers, reading about history, growing vegetables, cooking for his family, telling stories, and making his grandchildren laugh.  He had an unforgettable charisma and sense of humor. Ricardo retired from Cargill Grain at age 62 and his retirement allowed him the time to concentrate on his two passions: the Chicago White Sox, and his beloved grandchildren.  His love of the White Sox is an enduring family legacy.  A perfect day for Ricardo included drinking endless cups of coffee, watching a Sox game and spending time with his grandchildren.

 A visitation for Ricardo will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home.  There will be a service for Ricardo at 7:00 p.m.  To join the memorial service livestream click the video link.
