Sally Ann Palmer, 87 of Joliet, Illinois passed away on April 8, 2024, after a battle with cerebrovascular disease. Sally was predeceased by her husband Jack Palmer, her father Frank and mother Agnes Liess and sister Norma Scheidt. She is survived by her brother Richard Liess and her four children Wayne Palmer, Linda Ostrem (Palmer), Julie Mancini (Palmer) and Debra Palmer. Sally had ten grandchildren, Lauren Long (Palmer), Jeffrey Palmer, Katie Briesath (Palmer), Kim Williams (Palmer), Kristina Clark (Mancini), Emily Cantu (Mancini), Nick Mancini, Lexie Fonseca (Mancini), Elizabeth Ostrem and Matt Ostrem. Sally had four great grandchildren, Isabella Cantu, Norah and Jasper Long and Eli Briesath.
Sally was a lifelong resident of Joliet, born on August 31, 1936. After graduating from Joliet Township High School, she worked as a telephone operator for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She married Jack Palmer in 1957 and she became a homemaker raising their family. Sally was an avid gardener spending many enjoyable hours tending to her flowers. She received many compliments from passersby about her beautiful garden and yard.
A private memorial service will be held, and Sally’s cremains will be interned next to her husband Jack at the Elmhurst cemetery in Joliet. The family sends a special thanks to Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag and Lightways Hospice. Memorials to Lightways Hospice are encouraged.
