Terry Lee Short

Terry Lee Short passed away Jan 21st, 2025 at the age of 77. He was a native of Chicago, Il and resident of Joliet, Il after moving back from Gilbertsville, Ky. Terry was the epitome of the hard-working American, that instilled his hard-working nature into everyone around him. Never idle and always on the go.

Terry was a loving husband, father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and mentor to many a soul. He graduated from Mendel High School in Chicago and proudly served during the Vietnam War as a US Army soldier from 1967-1968 with the 272nd MP Unit. He recently had the privilege to take an Honor Flight to Washington, Dc.

Terry was a dedicated and hard-working man who instilled these values in not only his children but anyone who ever had the pleasure of working along side him. He was charitable with his time, serving on many committees through various American Legions and self help groups he belonged to throughout the years.

Nothing gave Terry more pleasure than to be surrounded by family and friends. From campground gatherings in Indiana and Ky, to family functions at any given time, he loved his family to the fullest. 

Terry is survived by his wife of almost 35 years Jackie; Sons Scott (Susan); Jeffrey, Matthew, James (Lori) and daughter Maggie (Justin). Also surviving are 3 stepsons Tim (Maureen), Brian and Chris (Sandy). This incredible blended family gave Terry and Jackie an Army of Grandchildren: Wade, Sam (Scott); Terry, Katie, Mary and Patrick (Terry deceased); Chelsea, Samantha (Jeffrey); Brady, Dillon, Jessica and Jimmy (James); Margaret and Cara (Maggie); Ryan, Savanah, Megan, Danny and Kenzie (Tim) ; Great Grandchildren Morgan (Terry Jr); Maura (Katie); Jackson and Connor (Mary).

Terry also survived by Brothers Tom (Pat), James (Lori) and sisters Marlene (Tom), Peggy (Dave)

Preceded in death by parents Margaret and Fred, Brother Bob and son Terry.
