Timothy Rea Shanks

Timothy Rea Shanks, age 53, of Joliet, IL went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2021 at Joliet Area Community Hospice. Born in Morris, IL on October 3, 1967 to William and Janice (Hall) Shanks. He died of complications from COVID and diabetes. He graduated from Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, IL in 1984 and attended Joliet Junior College for 2 years. He served in the Navy and worked at Caterpillar for 10 years. In 1990 the Lord spared him from the Plainfield tornado which destroyed the 2 stories above him.

He was artistic (loved to draw), loved to bike, camp, hike, and backpack with his dad and enjoyed grilling food over a campfire. He had a special love for cats—they were like his children! He loved going to church and was a member of Faith Bible Church in Joliet and helped in the Awana program.

He is survived by his parents and 3 sisters, Marie (Bryan) Fritch and their children Joshua and Ethan; Sarah (Tom) Kohl and their children Brian, Laura, Nathan and Megan and Charity (Jason) Nowicki and their children Noelle and Aaron.

Preceded in death by his grandparents Martin and Lois Shanks and Elias and Clara Hall.
